Health Occupation, Physical Education and Business (HOPE) is a vital academic division at Shoreline Community College. The Health Occupations area offers degrees and certifications in Dental Hygiene, Health Care Information, Medical Lab Technology, and Nursing. The Patient Services Coordinator provides support for the Dental Hygiene Program and reports directly to the Dean of HOPE. This position provides support to dental faculty, patients, and students and will work collaboratively with faculty, staff and administration committed to furthering the College’s vision, mission, core themes, and strategic plan.
Essential Job Duties:
Coordinate daily patient flow with students in patient care areas
Provide support services to dental faculty and students
Schedule appointments and register patients
Process patient charges; cashiering
Maintain patient records and advise faculty and staff regarding clerical record procedures
Responsible for environmental conditions of dental hygiene program area including clinical area
Other duties as assigned of a similar level/nature
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School graduate or equivalent
Three (3) years of general office experience OR two (2) years of office or customer service experience in a health care setting OR equivalent education/experience
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA)
Health Information Technology for Clinical Health (HITECH)
General front office skills such as customer service, reception, scheduling, and cashiering
Microsoft Office Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word programs
Fostering a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and competence
Time management, organization, and ability to meet competing deadlines/priorities
Entering and/or retrieving data accurately in computerized record keeping systems
Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound independent judgment within College/legal guidelines
Writing/editing/proofreading clear and concise materials resulting in effective oral and written communication with individuals inside and/or outside of the College
Establishing/maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels
Ability to work with a diverse group of students, staff, and the public in a friendly, courteous and helpful manner
