Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Per Diem Staff Nurse for the Clinical Research and Occupational Medicine Division of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Per Diem, Staff Nurse skillfully administers total patient care based on the individualized needs of assigned patients and families.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provides assessment and nursing care for occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries.
Responds to medical emergencies on the Piscataway campus.
Reviews programmatic medical claims for clinical appropriateness.
Performs medical screenings such as vision, vital signs, immunizations, audiograms, pulmonary function tests, and EKG's.
Maintains medical records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in accordance with established guidelines.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in the State of New Jersey.
At least five (5) years of experience, is required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Spirometer and EKG is required.
Current CPR certification required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Occupational Health experience is preferred.
Completion of NIOSH approved courses in Spirometry and Occupational Health Conservation preferred.
Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN), is a plus, and ACLS certification desired.
