The Center for Shock, Trauma and Anesthesiology Research Center/Department of Anesthesiology Research at the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator . The position coordinates and leads the activities of nurses engaged in research and/or the provision of health care. Our desired candidate will also be responsible for overseeing research projects, and ensuring that faculty and staff are aware of study protocols.
The Department of Anesthesiology Research has been awarded a 3-year contract from the U.S. Department of Defense to determine if and how clinical outcomes after severe traumatic brain injury are related to potential biomarkers present in the blood and stool. These biomarkers include blood cell gene expression, blood cell energy metabolism, and the gut microbiome. The goal of this study is to improve personalized critical care following traumatic brain injury.
This is a contractual position

Supervises, trains and assigns work to, and evaluates nurses.
Responsible for overseeing research projects
Coordinates the schedules of the nurses to ensure adequate staffing levels.
Trains nurses in new procedures and/or changes in study protocol.
Hires nurses or other staff as needed.
Participates in grant and report writing as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelors in Nursing
Experience: Five (5) years experience as a registered nurse. Positions within a research setting require at least 1 year of clinical research experience. Subject specialty necessary.
Supervisory: Experience in patient or project management.
Preferred: Experience with IRB applications, critical care/ICU data, biologic sample processing such as centrifugation, handling and storage. Familiarity with critical care or injury patients and a basic understanding of lab values and interpretation.
Other: May require training related to occupational safety and health, and environmental compliance
No subsitution of experience for minimum education requirement.
