The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine is looking for high performing Research Specialist, Clinical to join a busy orthopaedic research group. This position will have daily interaction with the clinical division that includes attending surgeons, fellows, and residents from around the country, and full-time nurse practitioners. The research focuses on multiple aspects of high quality, multicenter clinical prospective studies.
The Research Specialist, Clinical functions as a single specialist in a clinical setting and is responsible for providing the highest technical expertise to research programs, studies and/or projects and overseeing clinical research activities. The work will predominately be based at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
The position requires flexibility to recruit study participants during various clinical schedules.

Screen, recruit, and follow up on patients in research studies.
Develop, recommend, modify and implement policies and procedures and/or methods for clinical research. Develop protocol manuals, data collection instruments, and maintains databases. Participate in the design of research studies.
Perform clinical research activities including data management (collection, entry, and verification), advanced data analysis, and ensure compliance and clinical relevance of data.
Conduct library research and contributes to the preparation and writing of research findings for publication of journal articles and grant proposals.
Maintain all aspects of IRB submissions for each assigned study.
Act as a liaison between study sponsors and investigators. Promote effective and efficient operation and use of resources.
Perform administrative duties such as providing training and guidance to students and other clinical staff.
Participate in the design of research studies.
Education: Bachelor's degree in epidemiology, sociology, psychology, health sciences, nursing, or a related field. A Master's degree in a health-related discipline is preferable.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in clinical research including two (2) years in the relevant research specialization.
Other: Consideration may be given for a unique combination of education and experience.
May require training related to occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, shipping of hazardous materials and/or ionizing radiation.
