Summary:Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department, following infection control practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Runs biological and chemical tests at beginning of day and records in appropriate log. Runs test packs with lace sterilizer load and records results. Maintains ETO gas test log.
2. Receives and cleans soiled instruments and other usable patient supply items in decontamination area. Assembles packages and sterilizes all instruments and equipment. Sorts all sterile items, stores in proper place, and organizes sterile supplies. Assembles case carts for OR procedures. Pulls all supplies, instrumentation, and sutures. Complies with PPE requirements.
3. Effective and efficient use of equipment, supplies and people. Identifies inefficiencies and inaccuracies, responding appropriately. Actively participates in departmental/facility PI activities. Works to ensure the department meets regulatory standards.
4. Meets unit based education requirements. Recognizes and addresses educational needs of team members.
5. Provides services to all other areas of hospital by daily rounds. Acts as a resource and provides education on sterilization to hospital.

Qualifications: Qualifications:Minimum Education: Some college or vocational training required (CSP Tech course). Minimum Experience: Up to 1 year experience is required. Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses: Certification in Surgical Technology.
